Brandywine Bonsai Society was founded in
1967 by a small group of people who were
interested in increasing their knowledge of and
involvement with bonsai. They also wanted to
"spread the word" about this ancient art form and
attract and inform others who might share their
interests. The club now numbers more than 50
members - some of whom are nationally, and
even internationally, known. We are centered in
northern Delaware and have members from
Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and
Maryland.
We meet very month except December.
Meetings are generally the third Saturday of each
month, though there are exceptions for guest
lecturers, trips and special events. The monthly
meetings of the club usually involve an
educational morning session and an optional
afternoon workshop (sometimes at additional
cost).
The society exhibits examples of member's
trees twice yearly. The first show is in June at the
Brandywine River Museum in Chadds Ford,
Pennsylvania and the second is in November at
Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square,
Pennsylvania.
