The Society
The BBS was founded in 1967.
The Society was formed by a small group
of people who were interested in increasing their knowledge of and
involvement with bonsai (pronounced bone sigh). They
also wanted to "spread the word" about this ancient art form and attract
and inform others who might share their interests. The club now
numbers more than 50 members - some of whom are nationally, and even
internationally, known.
The monthly
meetings of the club usually involve an educational morning session and an
optional (often at additional cost) afternoon workshop.
The society
exhibits examples of member's trees twice yearly. The first show is
in July at the Brandywine River Museum and the second is in November at
Longwood Gardens.
